If we switched the sexes it would work okay.... but not this time.
Updates: Heidi, a red Dobie, came to our lives two years ago, now she and Fritz are an item! Talena (the small white dog) has not been bothered again and can enjoy her retirement at 12 years of age in peace and tranquility. :)
